Artist's Comments

Artemis, the majestic archer Goddess of the moonlit forests and protector of youth and wild creatures. An eternal virgin Goddess, she was extremely protective of her purity and that of her followers. Any slight on her honor was met with vengeance. She was often associated with the Moon, as her twin brother, Apollo, was with the sun, and she was seen as being a fertility goddess due to her assistance with the birth of her brother.

lovely work, and it's quite an unusual Artemis as well. Funnily enough, a few night ago I saw the goddess Freya in my dream - and she looked a lot like your Artemis ;)

Thank you Irina! :hug: I always pictured Artemis as a silvery white, ethereal being, like moonlight made solid. I'm always so interested to hear how different people's idea of the Gods are. For example I picture Freya as being warm and golden rather than silvery, I plan on painting her sometime in the future. She is my favorite Norse God :)
